I.L.A Sports’ Player of the month

Sofia Smith #12

Plays for the Brantford Ice cats Atom B

Ice Cats’ Sofia Smith is full of energy when leading her team onto the ice this year. Being only her second year in the league, little Sofia has improved her game so much since last year, which gave her the opportunity to play the centre position this year. You will never find her without a smile on her face whether its at the rink or anywhere else you might find her. She’s always been dedicated to the game of hockey practicing as much as possible trying to better every aspect of her game. She has a never-say-die attitude on the ice, encouraging her teammates to never give up on the play until the final buzzer. She is always moving on the ice, digging for the puck and helping her teammates all the time. Sofia was named “Ice Cat of The Week” for Jan. 6th-Jan.12th because of her outstanding playing ability. Congratulations Sofia! Keep up the good work!

We asked Sofia a few questions, Firstly we asked, “What’s your favourite pre-game meal?” She replied, “I like to eat Mcdonald’s after my game because it’s so good!” Sofia then shared, “When I grow up I want to be just like Jocelyne Larocque and play for Team Canada!” Jocelyn Larocque, Defensemen for Team Canada women’s team. We then asked, “What’s your favourite NHL team?” She replied, “I like the Buffalo Sabres and hometown player Brandon Montour!” When Sofia grows up she wants to be a doctor for our community.

Lastly, On a humorous side note, we asked Sofia, “If you had to choose your spirit animal, what would it be and why?” She replied “My spirit animal would be a Tiger because i’m feisty and mean on the ice!” Sofia has been selected as this month’s player of the month because of her dedication and her non-stop love for the game.
